No, Slick 50® Engine Treatment is designed to protect against friction and heat. Slick 50® Engine Treatment cannot be used to repair parts that are at the failing point or any pre-existing problems.
After Slick 50® Engine Treatment is installed do I still need to change my oil according to the manufacturer's specifications?
Yes, Slick 50® is not a replacement for regular scheduled maintenance.
How can the Slick 50® Fuel System Formula help my vehicle?
New fuel systems build up deposits rapidly, often within several thousand miles. Slick 50® Fuel System Formula is designed to treat the entire fuel system. This unique formula will clean direct and indirect fuel injectors, cylinder heads, combustion chamber, piston tops, intake valves and intake ports.
Will the Slick 50® Fuel System Formula harm the oxygen sensors in the vehicle?
No, the Slick 50® Fuel System Formula is compatible with all oxygen sensors and catalytic converters.
Can Slick 50® Fuel System Formula be used in marine applications?
Yes, the Slick 50® Fuel System Formula can be used in marine applications using 4 cycle engines. It is usually beneficial after each 50 hours of engine use. In 2-cycle engines treat the gasoline at the recommended ratio, scaling down for small tanks of fuel. Add 2-cycle oil at the recommended treat rate. Slick 50® Fuel System Formula does not replace the required 2-cycle oil.
Can Slick 50® Engine Treatment be used in diesel engines?
No, Slick 50® Engine Treatments are specially formulated for gasoline engines only.
Can I use Slick 50® Automatic Transmission Formula in a Manual transmission?
Traditionally no, but with the new 5/6 speed transmissions some vehicles do use automatic transmission fluid for manual transmissions. (Always check your owner's manual for the correct application).
Will Slick 50® High Mileage Automatic Transmission Formula stop my automatic transmission from slipping?
No, Slick 50® High mileage Automatic Transmission Formula is designed to help prevent seal leaks, enhance fluid performance and protect against oxidation of the fluid. Slick 50® High Mileage Automatic Transmission Formula will not correct any pre-existing mechanical problems.
Can Slick 50® Engine Treatment be used in lawn mowers?
Yes, as long as it is a 4-cycle lawn mower engine. Follow the directions for the proper percentage of product to add to the engine.
Do I need to change the oil as specified for the Slick 50® warranty or should I follow my car's manufactures recommendations?
You need to follow your car's manufactures recommendations.
Does Slick 50® still contain PTFE?
Slick 50® Advanced Formula Engine Treatment no longer contains PTFE. Some other Slick 50 products do contain PTFE.
I have old product sitting on a shelf for many years. Is the product still usable?
Most of our products are intended to be used within 1-2 years. We cannot guarantee the performance of our chemical products if older than 2 years.
If I accidently put Slick 50® engine or transmission treatments in my gasoline tank, what should I do?
Do not start the engine. Have it towed to the garage, and have them drop the tank. If you have started the engine, tell them to change the fuel filter too.
Is Slick-50 High Mileage Treatment supposed to be white?
Yes. Slick-50 High Mileage Treatment is white.
What is the difference between Slick 50® Engine Treatment Advanced Formula vs. High Mileage Formula?
Advance formula is designed for lower mileage cars, estimated about 75,000 miles and under. High Mileage Formula is more for the car that has more wear and tear on the motor -ex: 75,000 plus. The High Mileage Formula will provide better protection for the older engine.
Will the Slick 50® Engine Treatment Formula help with Smoking coming from the car?
Yes. Slick 50® High Mileage Formula will help but it may not stop it completely.
Can Slick 50® Engine Treatments be used with vehicles with Wet Clutch?
No. Slick 50® cannot be used with Wet Clutch that uses the engine oil to lubricate the clutch.
When using SLICK 50®, how much should you use?
SLICK 50® Advanced Formula Engine Treatment – 4-5 quarts: add one 32 oz. bottle of Slick 50®. If over 5 quarts - use 10% Slick 50®. When using Slick 50® Engine Treatment for High Mileage Vehicles - 4-5 quarts: add one 15 oz bottle. If over 5 quarts use 10% Slick 50® High Mileage.
For Slick 50® Transmission Fluid, do you run Engine and/or Drain old Fluid?
With the engine running add Transmission Treatment as a top off. DO NOT over fill. When changing transmission fluid, add Slick 50® High Mileage Automatic Transmission Treatment to new fluid. Run engine and check fluid level. Do not overfill.
If Slick 50® Fuel System Treatment, regular or High Mileage is in a gasoline tank will it interfere in any way when testing the vehicle for emissions?
Wait until the tank is gone and refilled with new fuel. The detergents are removing deposits that could potentially increase emissions temporarily as the system is cleaning.
Is Slick 50® compatible with 10 W 30? Also Dexos-1, Classification SN?
Advanced Formula is made with 10W-30 GF-4 motor oil, so it is compatible with 10W-30. Dexos-1 is a newer engine oil specification and Slick 50® does not meet that specification. Current GF-5 and SN oils also may not meet that specification.
